Safety Disclaimer

The information shared on Wild Harvest Life PNW is for educational, personal, and entertainment purposes only.

We share our own experiences with wild plants, mushrooms, seaweed, shellfish, fishing, and Korean-style wild food cooking in the Pacific Northwest. However, this blog is not professional medical, legal, botanical, or foraging advice.

Foraging can be rewarding, but it can also be dangerous. Many edible wild plants and mushrooms have toxic look-alikes. Some wild foods may also cause allergic reactions or may not be safe for everyone.

Before eating or using any wild plant, mushroom, seaweed, shellfish, or fish, always make sure you can confirm the identification with 100% certainty. Never rely on one photo, one video, or one single feature to identify a wild food.

Always check multiple trusted sources, learn from experienced local experts when possible, and follow all local laws, harvesting rules, seasons, limits, and regulations. If you are not harvesting on your own private property, make sure you have permission and understand the rules for that location.

Some wild plants and traditional herbs may interact with medications or may not be suitable for people with certain health conditions, pregnancy, or allergies. Please speak with a qualified healthcare professional before using wild plants or herbs for health purposes.

Mushroom foraging requires extra caution. Never eat any wild mushroom unless it has been positively identified by a qualified expert.

Wild foods should also be harvested from clean, safe areas. Avoid harvesting near roadsides, polluted water, sprayed areas, industrial sites, or places that may be contaminated.

By using this blog, you understand that you are responsible for your own decisions, safety, identification, harvesting, preparation, and consumption of any wild food.

When in doubt, leave it out. Your safety always comes first.

Thank you for visiting Wild Harvest Life PNW.

Wishing you safe and enjoyable adventures in nature. 🌿
